The CRWND Method is the self-study framework at the heart of Crown Academy.
It was created to help Black women in midlife slow down long enough to really pay attention to themselves.
Many Black women in midlife have spent years becoming very good at reading the room, caring for other people, holding things together, pushing through, and doing what needs to be done without the same kind of space to ask, What do I need? What has changed in me? What am I carrying? What do I want now? Who am I becoming?
That is the work of CRWND — Connection, Reclamation, Wellness, Nurture, and Destiny.
It is a guided way of learning yourself more deeply. And you get to do that in the company of other Black women in midlife who are doing the same work of self discovery.
There is something powerful about being in a space where you do not have to explain every part of your experience, where you can be honest, curious, quiet, unsure, joyful, tired, hopeful, or still figuring it out. The collective is there to hold the space, not to tell you who you are.
The CRWND Method
The CRWND Method calls us back to five parts of ourselves that deserve to be seen, cared for, and listened to — especially the parts we’ve had to put on the back burner while life kept “life’in.”
-
Connection is about paying attention to how connected you feel to yourself, your body, your relationships, your community, your faith, and your own inner voice.
Sometimes we get so used to moving through life that we do not realize how far away from ourselves we have gotten.
Connection is where we begin to come back.
-
Reclamation is about looking at what you have given up, tucked away, silenced, delayed, or forgotten.
Maybe it is your voice. Maybe it is rest. Maybe it is creativity, confidence, pleasure, boundaries, dreams, or simply the freedom to decide what works for you now.
Reclamation is not always about finding a new version of yourself. Sometimes it is about getting reacquainted with a part of yourself that has been there all along.
-
Wellness is about figuring out what it actually means for you to be well.
Not what wellness is supposed to look like or what somebody on social media says you should be doing. Your wellness.
What helps you feel more grounded? What drains you? What gives you energy? What does your body need? What does your emotional life need? Where does joy fit? Where does rest fit?
This is where we begin to pay attention to the whole woman.
-
Nurture is about how you care for yourself in a way that is consistent, compassionate, and real.
Many Black women in midlife know how to care for everybody else. Crown Academy makes room to look at what it means to include yourself in that care.
What fills you back up? What helps you feel safe, supported, rested, cared for, and alive? What would change if you did not always wait until you were depleted before tending to yourself?
-
Destiny is about what comes next.
Not in a pressured, “figure out your whole life” kind of way. It is about becoming more intentional about the life you are living now and the woman you are becoming.
What do you want more of? What are you ready to leave behind? What still matters to you? What are you curious about? What would you like this next season of your life to feel like?
That is where destiny begins.
